Raise the lift appeal

By now, you’ve probably heard about our plans to install a lift here at Penarth Yacht Club, this project is well underway and our plans are currently with the Vale of Glamorgan Council for consideration. To kick off our fundraising, we are hosting a Raise the Lift Appeal which is going to be a 24-hour extravaganza! The event will last twenty-four hours between 12pm on 17 February and will finish on the 18 February at 12pm, with an amazing array of entertainment for all the family to enjoy.

Some of you may know that quite a few of our elder members have been with us for a considerable number of years, unfortunately due to the steepness and the number of steps to access the club, they are struggling to continue visiting and supporting the club. We are dedicated to our members needs and have been looking for some time into alternative access options, however due to the building being Grade || listed and the location of the club, our options are minimal which is how the committee came to the conclusion to install a lift at the club. A lift will not only make it easier for our elder members to access the club but also to our members who may have mobility difficulties or are wheelchair bound.

We have selected the highly recommended Stiltz to install the lift who have been featured widely in national newspapers such as The Daily Telegraph, The Independent and the Financial Times and have even been featured on Channel 4.

During the 24-hour extravaganza, we are optimistic that all of our members will dig deep to help raise funds for the Raise the Lift Appeal and remember no donation is too small (or too large!) and there will be plenty to get involved with from a range of stalls from face painting, hook-a-duck, Splat the Hedgehog, sweets and cakes, not to mention the 24-hour rowathon! Plus, in the evening, you can expect a wide range of entertainment from live band, The Snorklers and a casino with the bar open until 2am! For those back here bright and early Sunday morning, there will be a Sunday Survivors breakfast served from 9am! Remember to give generously, your club needs you!

We have also drawn support from our local Penarth and the Vale of Glamorgan community and local businesses Archytas and Masons Self Storage have generously offered to support the event and Raise the Lift appeal.

Archytas Strategic Planning are an award winning financial planning agency based in Cardiff who excel at providing lifestyle financial planning advice, their dedicated team supports personal and business wealth creation, financial stability and strategic tax planning to clients across a variety of industries. With a number of accolades already under their belt, they have recently been nominated as a finalist for an outstanding award: The Adviser Firm of the Year in Wales! We look forward to working with them in order to support the Penarth Yacht Club in achieving their fundraising goals.

Masons Self Storage have also generously made a donation towards the appeal as well as publicising the event through their own creative marketing & communications agency, ONCREE! Masons Self Storage have a state-of-the-art facility just five miles from Penarth, offering a range of flexible storage options for home and businesses. In March they will be launching a new Business Zone which is a perfect space for businesses with additional stock who are also looking for a space to work.

The Raise the Lift Appeal is sure to be an amazing fun for all the family event and we can’t wait to see as many of our members there as possible on the 17 & 18 February!
